Re: 2024 HS season
Winding back a couple of days .... Anyone notice that the CIAC mandates that a game only have a maximum of two overtime periods? Yep, New Canaan and Darien finished in a 5-5 tie after some wonderful and tense lacrosse. The game was leveled in the last ten seconds of regulation. Overtime had some te...

Re: 2024 HS season
Per nj.com, St. A’s 9 Summit 2. Not surprised by the result, but I am surprised that the Hilltoppers were held to only two goals. When has that ever happened? Garden City 12 Oak Knoll 8. Not surprised by that result either. I’d seen Morristown take apart Oak Knoll last week, which was before OKS bea...

Re: B1G 10 Conference Championship - Seeds, schedule and thoughts
Didn’t end up mattering, but the refs missed MD 40 stepping into the goal circle after her shot that had been saved. Should have been Rutgers ball with 15 seconds to go. Doesn’t matter now.

RU wins. Couldn’t be happier for Spilis. She lives to play another game.

Don’t know, but wouldn’t they have to go back to the grand jury to get a new indictment issued?

Re: January 6, 2021: Insurrection or “normal tourist” visitation?
There didn't seem to be any votes to adopt Trump's absolute immunity position, in toto. But then Ginny may yet work on Thomas and Alito. There also doesn't seem to be a majority to affirm the D.C. Circuit's decision as is. But a majority of Justices seem to be of the view that the central allegation...

Argument not going well for The Donald, but then we are still on the questioning of his lawyer. We shall see if things change when Jack Smith’s lawyer gets up.

The NY Times is hedging their bets. They smell a stinker. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/04/23/opinion/bragg-trump-trial.html I Thought the Bragg Case Against Trump Was a Legal Embarrassment. Now I Think It’s a Historic Mistake. April 23, 2024 By Jed Handelsman Shugerman Mr. Shugerman is a law profes...

Re: ACC Tournament - Seeds, schedule and thoughts
This VAR of Galica's FPS goal shouldn't even need a review; plainly pushed by Nalls. And Larry is right there..... Terrible call. Terrible. If anyone thought Larry would let the other ref overrule his call on the field you're fooling yourself. The other refs should be the one's looking at the call....

Last night St. Anthony's beat Darien (at Darien) 5-4 in 3OT. Scoreless 1st Q. SA had three two goal leads. Darien tied it up with 9:30 to go in the 4th. Winning goal was at 0:33 of the third OT. No shot clock. Calabria had 3 for the Friars. DAF video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Pmj9eZ6Qis

Re: WLAX Bracketology
I don't envy the committee's job this year at all. Northwestern is the only team that's separated itself from the field. The top seeds as well as a lot of the AQs and at-large bids could beat each other on any given day. Seeding this field and making the bracket is not going to be easy. That's what...

Wonder if Trump wrote his speech on the back of an envelope on his way to the rally like Lincoln did when he wrote the Gettysburg address. I would say “unlikely.” Trump can scroll his name with a sharpie, but otherwise I’m not sure he knows how to write.

Re: 2024 HS season
Link to the DAF Media full game video of Saturday's McDonogh vs. Darien game (neutral site in NJ). Not up to their usual quality (I assume because they were off-site and the wind was really blowing). Still, a decent video. No explanation given for the controversial Darien goal at the end of the half...

I'm getting my first look this year this afternoon at Boyle's younger sister, Abby. When I saw Chase in 2019 (her soph year), she had lots of potential but still had holes in her game. 2020 evaporated into the ether. By 2021 Chase had hugely improved and ended up being one of the very top Jersey pla...

Re: Games Today
I seem to recall some discussion on this forum about the impact of the freshman and sophomores on UVA ... The grad transfer from Lehigh had a very nice career and up her game this year for UVA. I'm sure NJBill recalls her HS days I sure do. Always thought she was underrated in HS. A killer with the...

Re: Games Today
Doucette was a 2018 HS grad so wouldn’t she have been gone by then? I don't recall ... but NJBill is usually right on the money. Just checked, this game was Spring 2021, Clark's senior year. I remember because Moorestown played Unionville at the Cape scrimmage in 2019, which was the year after Douc...
