Re: ivy league 2024

What's interesting to me about the 2022/24 Ivy debate is that there was a ton of righteous focus on the RPI in 2022 and not this year. The RPI was as flawed then as today. In any case, did the Ivies deserve all those teams in 2022? Absolutely not and the committee's circular reasoning showed as muc...

Re: ivy league 2024

Exactly. I had the same reaction to the ND "snub" in 2022. It doesn't matter how many 5 stars recruits you have on the roster, or that you won your last three games. The entire season matters. Every game. Win more games and you will make the tournament. I wouldn't change that. It can't be...

Re: Cornell 2024

 As a final note, and as I mentioned in passing, I've often wondered if Cornell's better performance in the regular season vs the ILT is partially due to the culture of the school. Cornell, generally, focuses on a highly rigorous daily routine, both in the classroom and on the field. Also, fro...

OK. Touche. I get it. I understand where you are coming from and don't want to argue with a fellow Cornell fan and I did not mean to be snarky. Same! But let me calmly defend the conf tourneys. Shortly after the ILT got started, I recall Yale coach Andy Shay saying that he was a big supporter of it...

Re: ivy league 2024

Should the NFL go to a system where, after the season , each division plays a post season tournament where 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3 and the winners play to see who makes the playoffs? When the lacrosse playoffs start generating the kind of revenue that the NFL playoffs do, or even the kind of revenu...

Re: ivy league 2024

I have a better idea. How about we eliminate the post season tournaments altogether and give bids to the 9 regular season champions. How about we also eliminate the NCAA tournament, and just have regular seasons only? That would get us closer to the true spirit of sport, would it not? OK. Touche. I...

Re: ivy league 2024

I have a very simple solution: Declare that the conference tournaments are actually first rounds of the NCAA tournament (and count the ACC as a conference). Voila! The field is now expanded to ~50 teams. And the conference tournaments (= NCAA first rounds) are now much more meaningful. I have a bet...

Re: ivy league 2024

I don't see the NCAA adding teams, they are pretty consistent with their percentages of teams that get in. I think a second NIT type tournament could be well received but really have no idea what the college lacrosse community feels about one. As a lacrosse fan and a Cornell fan, I would have zero ...

Re: ivy league 2024

If it's important for whatever reason to have every conference represented, how about having 2 play-in games for the teams with the worst RPIs? Or even 3? Think of something else to call those games to avoid "expanding the tournment." Keep top 13 RPI teams. I might feel differently next y...

Re: ivy league 2024

Tbh I don't think they Ivy's were snubbed this year just as I didn't think the ACC teams were snubbed in 2022. The RPI system isn't perfect, but it's the best we've come up with at the moment and all the teams know the system going in. The Ivy's had some great OOC wins, but a few too many that they...

Re: 2024 Bracketology

My bad. And Hopkins seeded accordingly (3). Michigan has a bad loss in Rutgers I guess. Sure. But, UM was an automatic qualifier. UM winning the B1G championship basically took the other Ivy's spot. But, yeah, UVA and UMD's performances this weekend sure didn't look good for the tournament committe...

Re: TV Broadcasts/Announcers/Production

We know who is in the tournament guys. Let's get to the brackets. All these teams will be on TV this weekend. This is a waste of time. Show the brackets and then discuss the match ups and the road to Philly. Glad to see Cars give props to the Ivy League, for a change.

FMUBart - a few things -I did not say that Cornell didn't have the talent to dodge - from anywhere...let alone behind the net (though I do believe that Goldstein seemed to defer to others a bit more recently. Ironic, because he always looked dangerous on Friday, covered by a pole or not). What I wr...

I'd like to see Penn get that last AL bid. There should be some consequences for a tournament beat down like PSU was handed yesterday.
Some would say 18-11 is quite the beatdown, too.
It's not 16-4.

Terry Foy has Penn in, FWIW. I'd like to see Penn get that last AL bid. There should be some consequences for a tournament beat down like PSU was handed yesterday. I also wish the committee gave more emphasis to late season wins than early season wins. The difference between winning in late April/M...
