Re: Coaching Carousel 2022-2023
Duke has only made the NCAA tournament twice going back to 2017. If you look at recent records, making the tournament last year with a 16-4 record is the uncharacteristic year. Not making the tournament is more typical. Last year, they did not beat UNC. They lost 18-4. They did beat BC by 1. In cont...

Re: Credentials
Where did the notion originate that one has to have played a sport to comment on it? I know it is a deeply held belief in certain circles here on this forum but out in the real world of sports it's an asinine and backward thinking idea. Holding to that logic, all women are disqualified from writing...

Re: Semifinal No. 2 -- Maryland v. BC 5/27 -- 5:00 pm
I will continue to keep my eye out. Gentle meme reminders to fellow posters not to feed msg board trolls is just good etiquette. Maybe the admins need to address the issue of a person(s) reporting generic posts that neither name call or trash posters. The msg board block feature is great. 1- If a p...

Re: 2022 D1 Selection Committee
ND had an 11 game season. Detroit Mercy is meanginless. They should have scheduled more OOC games. They certainly had their chance. I don't think that's the answer. By that logic, Harvard only had an 11 game season (playing 0-13 NJIT shouldn't count?) and that didn't stop them from getting a bid. T...

Re: 2022 D1 Selection Committee
In my opinion, that's where they went wrong - introducing their own new criteria which devalued the Duke wins. They should have just stuck to the stated criteria if they wanted to avoid all this second guessing. Notre Dame's wins over Duke were devalued when the committee drilled down to see what u...

Re: 2022 D1 Selection Committee
Never has a team with a top 10 rpi been left out of the tourney, much less the 7 rpi. and left out for the 15 rpi? The fact that Duke had a #7 RPI invalidates the very notion of RPI. Their best win was against the #9 RPI team. They lost to 3 teams with sub-20 RPIs - including to RPI 30 Syracuse - a...

Re: 2022 D1 Selection Committee
lots of opinions there. youve seen the history of the comittee and its adherence to rpi. like it or not. Never has a team with a top 10 rpi been left out of the tourney, much less the 7 rpi. and left out for the 15 rpi? come on . a week ago, when someone said cornell has had a meh second half of th...

Re: NCAA Tournament
Arizona State should have been in. I would have had them over UMass. They had two significant wins over Rutgers and USC vs 0 for UMass. Sucks for ASU, but at the end of the day they got the 8 seeds correct though I agree SB should have been 6 or 7. I believe the bubble was particularly weak this ye...

Re: NCAA Tournament
Stony Brook, an 8th seed? Political BS! And I need someone to explain to me(in precise detail) how ND and UVa are in this Tournament other than their past Lacrosse history or the name of their school? Nuff Said! Can’t help you out here Larry, but I feel the same way about UMass, UCONN, JHU, n Michi...

Re: NCAA Tournament
One more thought re ASU. Could be as simple as the cheapo NCAA didn't want to have to fly a 4th team in addition to Denver, USC, and Stanford.

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near
IL came out with theirs. I like their seeds better: Same top 5 then Loyola 6,SB 7, Florida 8.
After today's B10 final I'm going with
UNC
Md
BC
NW
Cuse
SB
Loy
Fla

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near
Only possible bid stealer left is Yale. I’ll stand pat with my opinion that Jeremy Fallis has the at large teams right. Rutgers winning today would cement them as a seed. If I were on the committee, using their stated criteria, my 6-7-8 seeds would be SB-Loy-Rutg with a Rutg loss, and Rutg-SB-Loy wi...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near
Denver are currently losing to Georgetown 12-7 at halftime. If Georgetown can hang on for the second half and steal the AQ it gives the committee even more to think about! Serious deja vu on that one. Would have been 2nd time in 3 years GT stole a did with an OT win over Denver. In 2019 they stole ...

Re: Duke
Dr. Tact's post was indeed a common sense response. Many of us have weighed in on the flaws of using RPI/SOS over on the "Bracketology" thread and there does not appear to be any dispute that the system would benefit from an eye test component. As for the "Duke" thread, the issue...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near
I agree 100% with Jeremy’s field of 26. If I were on the committee I would have: UNC BC Md NW Syr SB Loy Rutg Florida odd team out thanks to Rutgers win. We’ve all in agreement (including Jeremy I believe) about Florida at 6. Whether they, Rutgers, or Loyola are the last team seeded is only drama le...
