Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

. There's still a chance Duke gets in at No. 8 over Loyola or Rutgers does as well if the Scarlet Knights get past Northwestern. Rutgers will definitely be seeded if they win the Big Ten. That would be sad Sad is one word for Duke getting an 8 seed. After their performance in their last 2 games I w...

Re: Upsets that make headlines

Oregon 14 Colorado 10 Who saw that coming? that is surprising It's shocking - CO had beat them twice already this year, and by 11 goals just last week and CO just beat Denver a couple of days ago..may be the biggest upset of the year. I didn't see the game but looks like OR goalie stood on her head...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

Why is UConn projected to be an at large team? They have a good RPI but their SOS is 47 and their only notable win was against UMass. You answered your own question. Because their RPI is 14, and that is a metric the committee has historically fixated on. It's same metric they would use as justifica...

https://www.usalaxmagazine.com/college/women/bracketology-selection-committee-sheds-clues-on-how-bracket-will-shake-out I actually can't believe there is any talk at all about Michigan making this tournament. Dear God, please don't let the committee seed Duke. Thanks from agnostic -- but still hope...

Re: North Carolina 2022

Since 2017, 51-30 (63%), 8-15 ACC record (35%), likely 2 NCAATs out of 5 seasons, 2-2 tournament record. They haven't won an NCAA Tournament game without Chris Gray since that national title season. It's clear there's been a fall-off in results, right as his contract is coming up. In this time, Vir...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

Nightmare weekend for bubble teams with the ND and UVA upsets. St Joe's could have created some turmoil as well but I don't think A10 is a 2-bid league. I do think ACC comfortably gets 6 in. RPI and SOS for ND (17 and 3) and UVA (18 and 1) are just too strong to leave out. To me, if you had to pick ...

Re: ACC Tournament - Seeds, schedule and thoughts

Need I really remind everyone... in 2015 Syracuse won the ACC tournament as the 6 seed. Took down 3 BC and eventual fellow Final Four contenders 2 Duke and 1 UNC on the way. Without this opportunity, Cuse does not receive the 4 seed in the NCAA tournament, does not gain the confidence that comes fr...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

Rutgers might be in the mix as well. They've got 4 top-wins vs. 2 for Florida and 1 for Duke, and an RPI of 8. Their bad loss was to Arizona St, but that loss is looking more respectable as the season goes on. I think realistically they'd have to win their next two - at Ohio State tonight, and then ...

Re: Miscellaneous questions, thoughts, impressions, etc.

...are now slim. Looks like RPI dropped from 7 to 10 and SOS is 30. They do still have 3 top 20 wins vs UConn, OSU, and Michigan. Offsetting that a bit, the loss to Colorado counts as a significant loss (RPI>20), and is something the other seed contenders don't have. Loyola should be feeling much be...

Re: Duke

The updated Bracketology today has Duke right in the middle of the SOS pack. 13 Florida 16 JMU 21 Duke 25 Stony Brook 28 Loyola Gee – I wonder who predicted that would be the case toward the end of the year earlier in this thread. Even using the cockamamie SOS formula, I still called it. You are fo...

Re: Duke

Still trying to move those goal posts, eh? Against my better judgement and the sage advice of some other posters, I will respond. I simply can’t ignore the adversarial tone of your latest missive. In your initial post on April 12th, you were talking about overall assessment of schedules to include s...

ACC Tournament

Anyone know, with certainty, what tiebreaker rules are for the ACC Tourney seeds? Asking specifically about where there's a 3-team tie with teams all going 1-1 against each other. I've seen fewest goals allowed, and I've seen goal differential but can't find anything official. If Syracuse wins tonig...

Re: 2022 Women's Tewaaraton Watch List

well said. 10 years from now, no one will remember who was on the watch lists, only who held the trophy. OK, its the Tewaaraton not the Heisman, so maybe no one outside lax circles remembers who held the hardware either but your point holds. Unless you've got some hardware to point to, institutional...

Re: Duke v. UNC 4/21/22 @ 8:00 PM

+1 That game film should be memorialized for all to see how it's done when it comes to playing phenomenal 1v1 AND team defense. I believe UNC's D is the most underrated unit on the team. Yes, Moreno and Trenchard deservedly get the accolades, but that entire unit gets after it. No gimmicks, just a t...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

The other thing that I found interesting is that a team like Stanford might be comfortably in if not for Stony Brook and James Madison planning to switch conferences. Since they have both been deemed ineligible for their conference AQs, it's as if Albany and Towson (or whoever else wins their respec...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

Were it to happen, that game would be a toss-up. Designed that way - though only 8 teams are officially seeded, think of that matchup as being the 16 vs 17 seed game. I don't think ASU is a tougher match than the other 3 mentioned, either. RPI is only 27 though they do have sig win vs Rutgers. I ap...

Re: Bracketology - Always a sign The Tournament is near

fair question. I would argue that UNC's 2nd round opponent (Michigan) is not better than Maryland's (JMU), Stony Brook's (Rutgers) or BC's (Princeton)

In my mind, JMU, Rutgers, and Princeton were all in the mix for seeds. Michigan has an RPI of 20, a really good SOS of 9, but no significant wins.
