Seems like a solid choice for the Oval Office.

Re: January 6, 2021: Insurrection or “normal tourist” visitation?
Astonishing logical and ethical gymnastics from those who claim the Colorado ruling is subverting democracy, election interference or subverting the will of the voters by barring a man who tried to violently and criminally overturn a Presidential election and negate the votes of the majority.

Re: Oberlin College
Colleges have been cancelling employees and students for at least 150 years. Good examples are professors at Southern colleges who wrote against Jim Crow Segregation. Another example is professors at Catholic schools with non-conforming views on abortion. Certainly not saying two wrongs make a right...

Any reasons, examples or evidence?Penn State is a very interesting example to bring up regarding the athletic culture of a school at large. I would never let my child consider that place.

Re: Recruiting
Now that you mentioned football, I believe its a mistake to overlook the value to many 16 year old recruits of being able to stand on the sidelines for one of the great football spectacles at Penn State, Clemson, Michigan etc. Not what I'd base my decision on, but its a factor. I've heard this from ...

Re: How old is too old?
70 seems right for both office holders and judges.. Many people older than that formed their world view in the '60's and '70's which is often an obstacle for leading and making decisions in 2023. Being out of touch is an issue from what I've seen. I'd really think twice about hiring a 74 year old ac...

Re: Orange Duce
I believe that Brooks' article provides an important perspective, but I'd suggest that he gets it backwards using the following quotation: As the sociologist E. Digby Baltzell wrote decades ago, “History is a graveyard of classes which have preferred caste privileges to leadership.” I'm confident yo...

I think it makes since to think of AI as more of a plagiarism tool that puts together bits and pieces it gathers than actually creating anything independently.

Agree 100%And in my opinion, it completely undermines the purpose of high school athletics and the values/lessons they are supposed to reinforce.

Re: American Educational System
180 days is plenty if we had smaller class sizes. Kids are learning so much more than we did growing up, like we learned so much more than our parents did. Hope I'm not overdoing it, here. I would guess that you are imagining 180 instructional classes, but when you factor in schedules where the cla...

I thought the issue was family tragedies? I also think Andrew Jackson got a great deal of mileage out of the death of his wife Rachel.

Re: American Educational System
If the school year were to be increased from 180 days to 225 days, a 20% increase, then a 20% increase for all teachers and staff. Where does that money come from? Where all money for such things come from, taxpayers etc., its a question of our priorities as a society. Seems to me like a very good ...
