Re: Cornell 2024

As a final note, and as I mentioned in passing, I've often wondered if Cornell's better performance in the regular season vs the ILT is partially due to the culture of the school. Cornell, generally, focuses on a highly rigorous daily routine, both in the classroom and on the field. Also, from soci...

Re: Cornell 2024

Hi VRR! As I have noted twice, my comment regarding save percentage was simply an observation, and not a criticism of Knust. My overarching point is that Cornell, actually, played quite an inspired game. When a team wins GBs, has 10 CTs, has substantially fewer turnovers and is virtually equal in fa...

Re: Possible Tournament Upsets?

Of the first eight games, I can think of four where the home team might not make it through: UVA vs St. Josephs : UVA has tremendous talent, but has not been winning. Granted they have been playing the top programs in the country. In contrast, St. Joe's has one of the longest unbeaten streaks in th...

Re: ivy league 2024

Subjectively, this was a good year for the Ivies. From memory: Five Tewaaraton Nominees Brandau: Yale Carroll: Penn King: Harvard Kirst: Cornell Mackesy: Princeton Better than typical record against the ACC and Big10 Cornell playing ND in Long Island in an electric and exciting game Penn and Princet...

The conspiracy theorists will love this outcome.

Re: Cornell 2024

When it comes to statistics, Cornell played a really strong game against Penn. Ground Balls, Shots, CTO's all were dominated by Cornell. Penn had a small advantage of two face-offs. The difference was goalie play. Wyatt Knust had a quite respectable day with 11 saves and 48% saves versus shots face...

Re: Cornell 2024

Always enjoy watching the Big Red—except when they play the purple and orange. Disagree with VRR, though. Cornell definitely has the talent to attack from behind like Princeton—probably even more talent with the emergence of Goldstein. Kirst can dodge from anywhere. Not having Long available was a ...

Re: Cornell 2024

It hurts to watch teams like Denver and JHU and PSU lay complete eggs in the league tourneys with no risk of losing a bid and have those putrid efforts in somewhat meaningless games cost Cornell a bid. Couldn't agree more. I understand the NCAA wanting to create some end of season drama but if ther...

Re: Cornell 2024

One wonders if PSU should have taken their foot off the gas at some point vs UMD and saved some energy for their next game.

Re: ivy league 2024

Quakers really hammered Cornell’s offensive players, of course, especially Kirst. It looked to me the intimidation factor was part of the game plan, and Quakers were willing to live with the penalties given Carroll is in net. Not convinced that will work against Princeton. If the body slam, hit fro...

Re: Cornell 2024

What a dirty play that was. No respect for Penn after that crap I can't believe that Quint is defending thar hit as clean... 100% a penalty but I don’t think there’s anything dirty there. Kirst clearly trips into him. I'm assuming this post was referring to the previous hit from behind. I don't thi...

Agreed... his "soft hands" shot placement and wily shot selection seemed to be the key to beating Carroll.
