Re: Stop playing tournament games in football stadiums
"Move it elsewhere and you're getting into flights, have you seen what the projected future costs of gas/airline fuel are the next couple year's under Bidenflation?" Not only unnecessary, but ignorant. Lighten up. Way to get offended. You get the point. With the rising costs of flights, d...

Re: Stop playing tournament games in football stadiums
Hofstra attendance was terrible for QF especially considering the teams playing. Really sad. I’m heading to Hartford Friday morning and have been to every final since 2011 except 2017 when my Terps won…figures! As the game is spreading I think you need a a area many can reach without the lousy LI t...

Re: Stop playing tournament games in football stadiums
I'm biased of course but I think Hofstra's Shuart Stadium with 13K capacity is ideal quarterfinal setting since even when you get disappointing crowd like Saturday at 5,800 it still is a great atmosphere and doesn't look empty. In years where you get the right mix of teams like Maryland, Cuse or 20...

Re: Atlantic 10 Lacrosse
Is Fairfield not joining as an affiliate member? Why is Fairfield not in the MAAC conference for men's lacrosse like they are in every other sport the MAAC sponsors? Because MAAC doesn't offer full complement of scholarships for mlax and also doesn't allow full-time assistant coaches. Prior to CAA ...

Re: Ivy League 2021
Here is the most foolish aspect of what the Ivy League did. Nevermind the cancelation of the season, but they specifically said that any Ivy Spring teams that play, cannot play each other and call it non-conference. Talk about pushing the knife deeper into a wound...it's bad enough for the kids and ...

Re: Transfer Portal
For clarification trying to understand the 12.6 fully funded D1 program. Am I correct with 12.6 scholarships say at a school that tuition and room board runs say $65,000 12.6 X 65,000 = $819,000 that can be divided by coaching staff with a roster of 40. Every player received an equal amount $20,475...

Re: Ramifications Extra Year of Eligibility
I mentioned college baseball in one my earlier posts. For those that don't know much about it, their recruiting situation is annually even more tricky than lacrosse. You think its shocking lacrosse guys get pushed out? Take a read at college baseball. And their scholarship number is 11.7 max in Div....

Re: Ramifications Extra Year of Eligibility
If I was a coach, the most valuable Lacrosse, on-the-field element and conclusion from everything that has happened, is this: Your 2020 seniors are your most valuable commodity. They are "free" ,....not counting against the 12.6. Older, established, mature players, eager for a storybook en...

Re: Ramifications Extra Year of Eligibility
I haven't heard of talk of cutting underperforming college players to balance the roster size. Is that a realistic possibility? Under normal circumstances, how often are non-scholarship college players cut from the team? Yes, guys get cut all the time. Worth repeating, that scholarships are 1-year ...

Re: Ramifications Extra Year of Eligibility
I guess I don't understand the "school can't afford it" concept. These scholarships are internal transfer payments, no? Real cash isn't really needed. As for schools using lacrosse/sports as enrollment strategies...I get that at smaller DIII schools. But at a giant school like Penn State?...

1st - loi's signed in the fall... that's a commitment to receive scholarship money. with even partials, i'm assuming the number is spelled out for the next year as the athlete is giving up rights. i also don't recall any players not landing after signing an nli. 2nd - kids just got their season cut...

Re: Transfer Portal
there is no such thing as a recruited walk on signing an LOI. it is against nc$$ rules. https://www.athleticscholarships.net/what-is-the-national-letter-of-intent.htm there is a hyperlink there with the entire form it says the financial scholarship has to be spelled out in detail and signed at the ...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
So if these are medical redshirts and there are a maximum of 12.6 scholarships/team, aren't these players basically paying extra to be able to play an extra year? Yes they are all paying $ to play the extra year. Even the Sowers situation is remarkable because he/his family clearly paid a bundle fo...

Re: Ivy League 2020
I think we can all agree that the Ivy League is not going to make a ruling on allowing grad students to play anytime soon. Just look at how the Ivy League has been decimated by Basketball grad transfers, even intentional sitouts! And they have remained rigid, so if the massive basketball transfers a...

Re: Ivy League 2020
I am amazed at the Sowers decision on a couple of levels.... 1- None of the articles mention exactly WHEN he withdrew, but we know it had to be sometime in the March 20+ area. About 50% of the way through the semester, but just incredible sacrifice because we know there is a lot of schoolwork that w...

Not to open up a dangerous can of worms...but can any insider here offer some better clarity on the Duke 2007 Roster configuration from a scholarship perspective? Duke 2007 is the only example that exists of this kindve situation, and without cross-referencing a lot, we know that a large chunk of th...

Re: Pro N Cons Another Season Senior Eligibilty
I don't pretend to know what is going to happen. You could be right. But i think the NCAA eligibility ruling has the POTENTIAL to hurt HS players, specifically in the 2022 and 2023 classes, a lot worse than any other class (college or HS). That's all I've been trying to explain. NJfanlax: I'll do y...
