Re: Future of WLax Rules
That commonly happens in every game in every age group. No one considers it a foul. Defenders are taught to initiate contact with the shafts of their stick to deny the ball carrier at a minimum freedom of movement and at worst to physically push the ball carrier away from the goal. So according to t...

In the above link, Alice Mercer has her stick horizontal with both hands on the outside of the stick and her arms are extended. She is pushing back against her opponent with her stick.

Re: Future of WLax Rules
Is that the consensus? To me, that’s not the case at all but rather the inconsistency of the calls - and reffing is definitely not easy at all. I think we are saying the same thing - call the game consistently. If there are missed calls, that would mean they are inconsistent.. I agree, officiating ...

Re: Syracuse
According to the experts, women are more susceptible to ACL injuries (Ward's was toe injury) though. Of course, I have no idea what's going on with these injuries but again, I find it hard to imagine that all the other programs are doing preventative ACL injury exercises/routines/practices and Cuse...

Re: September 1st Contact date
This is pretty crazy. On the one hand, the recruiting summer season has obviously not happened, nor have summer camps and clinics. On the other hand, why is every other sport able to figure this out? And why July? This gives the 22s two months before they turn to the 23s class? Are they signaling t...

Re: Extra year granted
Does anyone have first hand knowledge whether coaches have been encouraging all seniors to stay next year to play or just selective players on the team?

Re: Extra year granted
With 10 seniors returning to the same team next year, can we finally agree that this 5th year eligibility issue has officially gotten out of control?
I hate to think what will happen if Syracuse wins the NC next year.

Re: Transfer Portal
Whole thing is nothing but a big mess. People bailing and transferring from here to there, it's definitely going to cause problems, lot of players are not going to be happy with all this. All for what? Gonna be fall ball? What kind of season is it going to be...shortened with all games closer to ho...

Re: Corona
I don't see how a summer season is possible. It seems like every week another domino falls. 1. IWLCA cancels its tournaments. 2. Colleges for the past month have been progressively cancelling all of their summer lacrosse camps/clinics. A few have postponed theirs until August. 3. The NCAA extends it...

Re: Corona
There is a reason why some clubs attend all of the STEPS/YJ tournaments and others don't attend any.

Re: Corona
not sure what individual schools will do with their recruiting camps - but they are always your best bet. Maybe they will have them since they can control the number of kids that attend and create a "safer" environment than massive tournaments. I hope they do. No one likes the massive rec...

Re: Corona
I couldn’t agree more. Here we have a completely uncertain recruiting landscape and they are throwing new tournaments in there. Who’s going to attend which ones? Will coaches come to the former IWLCA tournaments? If not, would they watch film from these tournaments? Is this setting up a divide betw...

Re: Transfer Portal
As I have said more than once, this was a hurried and emotional decision by the NCAA that will prove to be foolish. What is their (NCAA) plan in the event the football season is cancelled? Winter sports? How are schools budgeting for extra scholarships with almost all of their revenues (football re...

Re: Transfer Portal
Now this would be some news for the lacrosse world - no fifth year in the ACC? https://www.thestridereport.com/post/breaking-wisconsin-bars-seniors-from-returning-acc-may-follow I find this hard to believe, ACC is not usually in the business of restricting their programs or putting them at a disadv...

Re: Transfer Portal
Just wondering what schools the athletes who entered the transfer portal are looking at. I would assume the list is relatively small and would primarily comprise schools from the ACC (5), Big East (6), Big 10 (6), Patriot (3), and America East (1). Am I missing any others? The tough part to predict...

Re: Transfer Portal
One ore two will move up in quality (lacrosse wise), two or three will make a lateral move, and the rest will move down whether it’s DI DII or DIII. I know that there are also underclassmen in the transfer portal. But for seniors taking advantage of their 5th year of eligibility, it doesn't seem li...

Re: Transfer Portal
I think the bitterness lies in the fact that many (if not most) HS students are using sports to try to get themselves accepted into a more selective college. Selecting a college isn't just about sports, it's about getting a good education. It's about positioning oneself to be able to have more oppor...

Re: Ramifications Extra Year of Eligibility
Plenty of teams need players, maybe not at the DI level but i have seen schools shut down programs because they do not have enough players. If kids want to play there will be places. You can't have sports programs if the schools can't afford it anymore or if the schools themselves shut down. "...
