Re: ivy league 2024
OK. Touche. I get it. I understand where you are coming from and don't want to argue with a fellow Cornell fan and I did not mean to be snarky. Same! But let me calmly defend the conf tourneys. Shortly after the ILT got started, I recall Yale coach Andy Shay saying that he was a big supporter of it...

Re: 2024 Bracketology
If you want more recent results to count more, the simplest thing is to declare that the conference tournaments are first rounds of the NCAA tournament (and that the ACC counts as a conference). Then we would now be down to the final 9.

Re: ivy league 2024
How about we also eliminate the NCAA tournament, and just have regular seasons only? That would get us closer to the true spirit of sport, would it not?

Pays for travel out of basketball profits.PizzaSnake wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 3:38 pm How about eliminate the NCAA and start from there? Does it still serve any useful purpose?
It's basketball fans who should be complaining, their money is supporting all these niche-sport tournaments.

Re: ivy league 2024
I have a very simple solution:
Declare that the conference tournaments are actually first rounds of the NCAA tournament (and count the ACC as a conference).
Voila! The field is now expanded to ~50 teams. And the conference tournaments (= NCAA first rounds) are now much more meaningful.

Well, that's first night attendance only. Sunday's attendance was 888 (which is still not too bad!)bearlaxfan wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 10:29 pm Pretty good considering the relative locations' travel and the fact the host team lost the first night.

Man a quant like you I would’ve expected “risk averse” from. You’re hanging out in my hood if you’re going to start using colorful and incendiary normative comments. I welcome it! https://youtu.be/oG6fayQBm9w?si=sjd0D4I802nSzDjK LOL, I didn't think pointing out that university administrators are ri...

Re: Cornell 2024
Gt takes it, after getting a shot clock reset that replay showed they clearly should not have gotten.
Big Red's hopes dodge the first of 3 bullets.
We're all Pennsylvanians now!

Gonna wait for the end to run RPI.
Gt has tied it, but Nova's ball, 47 sec to go, time out, shot clock off
AND they're going to OT, 10-10

Especially since nothing else was working.
In the dept of more bad news, Nova leads Gt 10-8 with 10 min to play, after trailing 8-1.

No. I would like to see a 9-team NCAA tournament of conference-tournament-winners only. But since absolutely no one agrees with me on that: then I would use Massey ratings to ...

Re: 2024 Bracketology
Multiple committee chairs have said over the years that a win in May means no more or less than a win in February.
