Due diligence is irrelevant. Optics are terrible, timing is terrible. IMO, zero chance JT gets even a look from Brown, unfair as that is.

That site is using its own selection criterion (RPI-based Strength of Record), which is (1) not an official selection criterion, and (2) has no evidence that it correlates with past committee decisions.

I think it is more a lack of preparation. Someone on the staff should have been aware of this.
