Re: Hobart 2025

The subject of playing time with a large roster is a delicate subject. It is not unique to Hobart. Lots of schools are carrying far more bodies on the bench than they need and older players on those teams aren't "getting the hint" the way they used to when Junior year came around while the...

Re: Is anyone else sick and tired of the Kavanaghs?

A little bit. But very sick and tired of hearing certain ESPN broadcasters wetting their pants at every opportunity to tell us that they played hockey in high school or stories of them playing in their backyard. THAT is nauseating

Re: Possible face-off changes

One of the best suggestions I ever heard to "fix" faceoffs is to move the sticks back off of the ball. When FOGOs get set their heads are 12 inches apart or more. Ball in the middle so they are 6 inches apart. Turns it into something that looks more like a ground ball and less of a technic...

Re: Hobart 2024

Defense whether it is in close, LSM or shorty really is about athleticism. For that matter giving up big chunks of a lead in the 2nd half is similarly about athleticism. And grit. The one thing about Hobart Lacrosse in the modern era compared to the glory days is that the two sport athlete is no lon...

Re: NESCAC

I have never understood the fascination with "going D-1". I have met many a family and usually it is the dad who boasts about their kid "going D1" Typically in the context of an extra loud conversation on the side lines or the bleachers during a high school game I even have known...

Re: Liberty League 2024

A spicy one tonight with Union and Tufts. A lot of attention right now on RIT, RPI, and SLU.

Re: Liberty League 2024

Watched the SLU/Skidmore game and first thought is that Skidmore like the rest of the LL teams this year seems to have risen to a better team at least in the first half. All ships rise with the rising tide mostly. SLU did not show a lot of Mustang Classic hang over. The best thing though was the Ski...

Re: Liberty League 2024

The growth of the game has come a long just fine. The net total of kids playing the game is enormous so much so that many "D-I" small schools (Quotes Intentional) have started programs and have no chance whatsoever of making the tournament. Small liberal arts DI schools have to compete aga...

Re: Liberty League 2024

I am a fan of the teams in the Liberty League but I can't understand why the question of whether it is the best league in DIII is constantly a subject of conversation. Same for NESCAC folks too. I mean you are arguing to an echo chamber more or less. The only thing I can think of is how Pool B teams...

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

Brine made a head called the PL77 for defense. It was a bigger head and it did not give at all. Perfect for jabbing attackman in the ribs. And it did not balls down. Problem is you really could not cradle and protect the ball too much. Back in the day defensemen did not do all that much clearing or ...

Re: Cornell 2024

Tully was sharp in the first half. The second half well you have to look at the quality of the shots he was facing. Defense as a unit and individually went to sleep on at least five of those island shots with no pressure at all on Tigers shooters

Re: LIBERTY LEAGUE 2020

I watched SLU in both games so far and they are looking a little interesting. Their D and Goaltending looked good, a typical looking Mahoney product that is performing well. A lot of pick offs from long polls from adjacent passes. A couple of nice point blank stops buy the keeper against a Cortland ...

Re: Johns Hopkins 2020

Without having to read all 165 pages and figuring out where this discussion came from: was there some formal announcement that there would be a change in HC after this year or is this just ruminations that a change in leadership is in order?
