Re: NCAC 2024

Hi Old … thanks for the good wishes. We’ll need all the good karma we can get because RIT is a top flight team that brings much more experience then Denison with loads of post graduate 5th years and grad transfers from what I gather. Hey we got nothing to lose and I hope/expect the Big Red keep it r...

Re: NESCAC

Interesting data point yesterday as Denison led Cleveland State 12-8 after the first three quarters of their scrimmage. Both teams substituted liberally in Q4 and CSU eked out a one-goal win. Cleveland State finished last season ranked #54 in RPI, just behind Lafayette and ahead of Bucknell, Colgat...

Re: Can a D3 team without grad players win the National Title

Another question which is somewhat related. Is a roster of 60+ players hurt the team in the long run? Hard to get reps for the freshman. I’m not sure about the damage it causes to a team’s run for a Championship directly but indirectly I have to believe it hurts team chemistry. If I’m not mistaken ...

Re: NESCAC

Alls I know is usually a lot of work is put into constructing a schedule by coaching staffs. Midd plays the same handful of teams year in and and year out. (Between the lazy scheduling and the late start, I’d like to know what the heck is going on in the offices up there). And so those underwhelmin...

Re: NCAC 2024

Denison scrimmage Cleveland State (11am) and Mercyhurst (1pm) - last year’s D2 National runner up - this Saturday at Cleveland State. Then Cleveland St v Mercyhurst (3pm) for those of you in the Cleveland area “jonesing” for some January lacrosse.

Re: Starts dates for D3 teams

As has been said, what difference really is there between college lacrosse and football and basketball? I love seeing the results of the annual pre-season Ohio St. vs Mt. Union scrimmage. Is this sarcasm? NCAA football and basketball are saturated with teams. The best players go D1. Lacrosse only h...

Re: NCAC 2024

I don’t think so. On either question - 1) I suspect the NCAC will for the most part remain a 1 bid conference with an occasional 2nd bid every few years. 2 bids will not be the norm. 2) JCU, for all intents and purposes replaces Allegheny. So the NCAC has been a 10 team league the past few years an...

Re: NCAC 2024

Agreed, I think they instantly become the third-best team in the NCAC behind Denison and Kenyon but will struggle to win conference championships as they did in the OAC. This does make Baldwin Wallace's road to the NCAA tournament so much easier. Could this help the NCAC become a consistent 2-bid c...

Re: NCAC 2024

I do think OWU will be much better this year. There is chatter about several incoming first-years being able to contribute right away, and nearly all of their key players are back. I don't think Plantholt would have scheduled CNU if he didn't feel much better about the talent he has this season. Fi...

Re: NCAC 2024

John Carroll will be a great addition to the NCAC. They are competitive across all sports, and will be definitely be among the Top 4 teams in Men's Lacrosse. The other plus is that other teams can schedule them now for April instead of February or early March. OWU has had some memorably chilly and ...

Re: NCAC 2024

Tough schedule by Coach Koch -- five teams that should compete in the Top 10-15. He's definitely preparing his team to go deep in the NCAA tournament and keeps his team sharp when playing some of the easier teams in the NCAC. Nice, tough OOC schedule. It's been said before, but it is something of a...

Re: NCAC 2024

Well our favorite time of year is just a little over 6 weeks away! I'm very excited to see what the Denison Big Red put out on the field this Spring. This is Coach Koch's 3rd season in beautiful Granville and this recruiting class is all his and I have to say I am impressed by what I have seen so fa...

Re: NESCAC

I would not be surprised, however, to see him grab some transfers from D1 guys who now realize that they are too far down the depth chart to see the field. If I'm the #6 attackman at a losing Patriot League, NEC or AE program and have the chance to upgrade academics/prestige/career opportunities wh...

Re: NCAC 2024

Denison scheduled has been posted. I think Coach Koch has crafted a very competitive slate, one that should have the team ready for NCAC play. Thoughts? https://denisonbigred.com/sports/mens-lacrosse/schedule Schedule is similar to last year with no easy games other than Transylvania out of confere...

Re: NCAC 2024

Hey Leonard. Agreed it is similar but I think this slate is a bit tougher IMHO. Out from ‘23 are Hampden-Sydney; St Mary’s and Grove City who the Big Red went 3-0 against and replacing them for ‘24 are RIT; Lynchburg and John Carroll. The remaining schedule is identical. Of course Denison did event...
