Re: Navy 2019

Funny thing about turnover, though, is that once you start looking, it's a matter of when not if. There are unintended consequences of shopping around beyond your employer getting sick of it. Lehigh coach Kevin Cassese interviewed at Cornell in 2014; according to rumor, he was offered the job and t...

Re: Rules question: Wing play

Last I read the NCAA rule book, there was nothing specific about leaving the two faceoff guys alone while battling for the ball. If someone could find it, that would be great. I think it's just an unwritten rule. Goalies can faceoff. You can also face off lefty. Please stop with the "lets chan...

Re: VIRGINIA Lacrosse

Quiet, humble leaders who give credit and take blame are rare, especially at that age. That’s why he was elected twice to be a captain. Whoever hires (or has hired) Ryan Conrad will consider it one of the best decisions they ever made.

Re: VIRGINIA Lacrosse

As a believer in the importance of leadership in any team, Laviano’s homage to Ryan Conrad in the embedded clip from the post-game press conference literally brought tears to my eyes. The culture in Hooville seems very strong. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/why-virginia-beat-duke-in-the-ncaa...

ESPN may have had a say in it for the better ratings window.

Towson has an NCAA title already.
Not a D1 NCAA title.

Re: Next Teams To Win National Titles For The First Time?

In the NCAA era, 11 schools have won titles: Cornell, Virginia, Maryland, Johns Hopkins, North Carolina, Syracuse, Princeton, Duke, Loyola, Denver, and Yale. Eleven of 71 (I believe). Currently, I look at PSU, ND, Georgetown, Penn, Towson, Ohio State, and Brown as contenders for the next first, alth...

Re: Coaching Carousel Post-2019 Season

That is if you believe that a strong OOC schedule has the potential to make up enough RPI to make a real difference toward an at-large bid from the SoCon. So far that hasn't been the case. If the only thing that really gets you in from there is winning the conference tournament, then conference SOS...

Re: Coaching Carousel Post-2019 Season

I suppose the higher achieving teams (Richmond, High Point, Air Force, and this year Jacksonville) may bristle at adding a low ranked team to Bellarmine, Furman, Mercer, and VMI, taking away a potential higher ranked out of conference game that could increase SOS and at large prospects, but I don’t ...

Re: ODAC

RMC ended with the 4 seed this year and had RC on the ropes in the quarterfinals before losing in OT. I haven’t checked their roster, but know they got major contributions from a freshman on attack. They are in an ideal spot on the I-95 corridor between UMW and CNU and should be an attractive option...

Re: Coaching Carousel Post-2019 Season

If Hampton wants a sustainable program, it needs to get in a conference, preferably SoCon which is generally manageable from a travel perspective. Coach Carter deserves great credit for his dedication to the program and getting it started. Sowell would be a good choice, but something tells me Starsi...

Re: W&L 2019

York seniors scored 175 of their 275 goals this year and their faceoff man is a senior. I’m not sure that’s particularly illuminating, however. They graduated a fabulous goalie last year and started a freshman this year. Coach Childs is an excellent recruiter and YCP is a great value in between lacr...

Re: ODAC

Classy, Nothinbut. I respect Lynchburg’s program and the way they play, and rooted for them through the 2015 playoffs. Success begets success and raises the profile of the conference. I wish both teams success and a third game at Wilson Field for the South semis would be epic.

Re: NESCAC 2019

I believe that the D3 tournament invited 8 conference champions until 2001, and that it was 12 teams from 2092-09, with 4 play-in games with the winners meeting the top 4 seeds in the quarterfinals. So, through 2009, there really wasn’t much of an issue of multiple teams from the same conference. Th...

Re: D3 All Americans

Last year’s W&L team started 0-3 with losses to York, CNU, and Denison, lost to Lynchburg in ODAC semis, and in OT to Dickinson in the NCAAs, finishing 15-5. Essentially the same record as this year. AJ was 1st Team in 2018. His numbers are a bit lower this year because he missed some time with ...

Re: E8 2019

Loss to Roanoke, lower-tier regionally ranked wins, and relatively weak schedule put them behind the eight ball with limited options if they did not get AQ. It doesn’t appear on the surface that returning to MAC Freedom conference will address those issues. They need to improve their schedule.
