Re: Long Island 2024

Interesting. IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.THE VAST MAJORITY (?). Are you aware that CSH, Manhasset, Garden City and Farmingdale are in Nassau County? Plenty of young men and women from those communities go to Chaminade and Sacred Heart as well. How many is vast? I said that they've always been a very strong ...

Re: Is anyone else sick and tired of the Kavanaghs?

KavanaghND24NCAAsmall.jpg Thanks Jim -- that's some good Lax coverage from Newsday. Looking at Tom Rock's archive, looks like he covered the QF's at Hofstra & the FF in Philly. Does he also cover any regular season Lax & does the Newsday lax coverage always have a LI tie in ? Cheers. Nice t...

Re: Long Island 2024

Is the Village of RVC the new epicenter of Nassau County lacrosse? SS/RVC H.S. is having a terrific year. The MVP of the women's NCAA Championship game is from RVC. The NCAA men's Champs had a few from RVC as well. I would credit Joe Bacarella, IMHO one of the best coaches on L.I. with getting the ...

Re: Ivy League 2025

One big X Factor going forward for Ivy league Athletics is going to be the imminent return to standardized testing for these schools. I'm pretty familiar with how the academic requirements for the Ancient 8 have 'evolved' over the past 5 years. The significant relaxation of academic benchmarks for ...

It's good for the sport's expansion and it was literally a few days ago.

Re: Long Island 2024

Just for fun I went through the rosters of every ACC, Big Ten, and Ivy team and looked to see the hometowns of the St Anthony's players on those rosters. Guess on what school they'd have gone to isn't always accurate (i.e. some kids listed as hometown Syosset still go to CSH, etc), but close. Brenn...

Re: What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

I think it is because it is gender neutral. The term "freshman" has been eradicated from any feed I watch (hockey/lax), and several networks use "player up" instead of "man up" as a graphic. I don't agree w/it obviously since it is all men playing, but that's libs for ...

What's with all the "Power Play" nonsense on ESPN this year?

Where did this come from? Why are lacrosse guys like Quint saying "power play" as if it's a term used in field lacrosse?

2000 - Ward Melville (from 2000 to 2023 Ward Melville ranked #1 three times with 3 different coaches) So with a program like WM. Has lacrosse somewhat fallen off in the school district? Are they now losing a bunch of kids per class to Chaminade/St. Anthony's (I have no idea if those schools are a v...

Anybody know how many goals total were man down and how many of those were on nonreleaseable penalties DU scored 5 man-up, at least 4 on NR penalties. I was at the game. Don't ask me to explain why any of the penalties were NR. I have been watching lacrosse for over 50 years and I have never seen a...

Both St. Anthony's and Chaminade would beat the bottom ~half of D3 teams pretty handily.

Re: Lacrosse’s Pinnacle is Memorial Day, not Pro

I just can’t get into professional lacrosse; not in person nor on television. I’ve got friends who have played it, now I know parents with sons playing, but I simply don’t feel it. I’m happy for the leagues; am I the only lacrosse junkie who has zero feeling about the professional leagues? Memorial...

Re: Long Island 2023

When was the last time either Nassau or Suffolk swept the LICs? No one ever swept A-D, because that’s only been around for 5-6 years. 2015 Nassau swept A-C with Syosset, Manhasset, CSH. Suffolk last sweep of A-C was 2007 with WI, Huntington, SWR. So Cold Spring Harbor is officially part of Nassau f...

Re: Stop playing tournament games in football stadiums

It’s fine to play regular season games in non-traditional locations so fans in the Midwest and West can see live lax, but playing the quarterfinals of the season’s showcase event - the tournament- makes no sense on so many levels. It adds needless travel time and expenses for the teams - often duri...

Re: Stop playing tournament games in football stadiums

Early round games have generally not been profitable. In the years following 2002 the tournament paid for itself gor a time. Most sports championships do not pay for themselves. Hoops foes. I believe hockey does now. In the event the NCAA priced itself out, saw ticket sales and attendance drop. Vos...
