Re: 2020 Coaching Carousel

Regarding Oberlin- Coach Grossman (Conn College 2005 All American and 1st team NESCAC goalie) decided after 10 years he would pursue a Master's full time to better move ahead in the field of education and seize greater opportunity. He had a very strong relationship with the athletic dept and admissi...

Re: NCAC 2020

NCAC has outlined broad athletic plans for Fall 2020. Conf only, limited season, testing protocols, stating the landscape may change etc. https://www.northcoast.org/News/2020-21/Releases/NCACFallUpdate20 Oberlin has decided to cancel Fall sports given the potential health risks to student athletes, ...

Re: D3 Program and Schedule Status Updates

It will be interesting to see how this gets executed at the school and league level. Like D2, it's a 33% reduction in minimum games required to allow for compliance flexibility. However, D2 also introduced a new maximum number of games (for lacrosse-13) to ensure a somewhat even playing field next y...

Re: D3 Program and Schedule Status Updates

I hear you. However, I'm not so sure that dropping 2-3 reg season games will have a huge budget impact and save programs at the D3 level. I agree that travel overall is a large line item that drives away game expense. However, dropping 20% may not be a huge cost savings. Most teams have away games t...

Re: COVID19 season cancellations

I agree on the necessity to plan. There are so many things outside of our control. However, one can control one's thoughts, judgements and actions. For what it's worth, I know a D3 senior student lax athlete who like all senior spring athletes, has been granted a conceptual 5th year of athletic elig...

Re: NCAC 2020

Unfortunately Wittenberg cancelled all Spring sport seasons late yesterday as well. As stated, the NCAC has not issued a collective response to Covid 19. In light of recent NCAA and Pro-Sports shut down, I would expect more teams to follow. Shared heartbreak.

Re: NCAC 2020

Trying to get updates regarding continuation of NCAC lacrosse given Covid-19. It looks like all are going to remote learning either now, thru respective spring breaks or possibly through the remainder of the year. Regarding lacrosse/spring sports here is what I've read to date: OWU and Witt- sports ...

Re: NCAC 2020

Some tight wins yesterday. Wooster by 2 over Capital (fought off a comeback). Kenyon comes back at the end to defeat Baldwin Wallace by 1. DePauw loses to Transy by 2 in a tight one. Alleghany outmatched vs Mt. Union by 10 goals. Out of Conf games in the midwest are no longer a cakewalk. Right now i...

Re: NCAC 2020

Yes and Oberlin beat Albion, the team that beat Wooster a few weeks ago. More games and match-ups for all. Looking for consistency and the respective teams in the conference to establish their identities. Should be fun. Albion didn't beat Wooster a few weeks ago. Wooster played its first game and b...

Re: NCAC 2019

Yep- I would agree. Pretty tough start for sure but they did lose a lot of senior talent from last year's squad. Let's see how they do against a very good John Carroll team tomorrow. Not ready to write off the NCAC or any team just yet. (Although I did see that Witt had a loss tonight against a well...

Re: NCAC 2019

I'm not so sure that the NCAC is experiencing a down year. I think other teams are getting better. I'll state what many have stated before. It may be that an inevitable lacrosse participation math equation is taking root. More people playing=better chance of more great players. The sport continues t...
