Re: Mental Health, Abuse and reporting in Women's Lacrosse

This Youngstown State situation seems a bit of a mess, and I should add that I have a loose family connection to that program. My understanding, and it's not direct knowledge, is that a handful of parents are running the asylum. A few players were suspended, allegedly for excessive drinking, and it'...

Re: Conference Realignments

(I would love to see both have Men's programs as well). I think it's got to be harder for UCLA to add either men's or women's lacrosse simply due to travel costs. Or more cynically, the cost of travel gives them an excuse to not add programs . I think realignment is not good for most collegiate spo...

Navy has a great venue, but not ideal for Friday of Memorial Day weekend. I think it was 2005 when the Final Four was there. Nightmarish traffic -- people headed to the beach for the long weekend.

Thunder at 9:03 p.m. Game ended just before 8:00. Despite the game 1 delay, good call to play the games when they did.

Re: Semifinal No. 1 -- UNC v. Northwestern 5/27 -- 3:00 pm

I was there in 2007 at Franklin Field for the semifinal when Duke led Virginia 13-4 and Virginia won 14-13. A bit different because Virginia's comeback took 20 minutes. Agree with others that North Carolina had been playing better than the score indicated, but you have to hold on to a seven goal lea...

Re: Semifinal No. 1 -- UNC v. Northwestern 5/27 -- 3:00 pm

Last night and this morning, the forecast was for evening thunderstorms (which still looks very probable). This morning, I got a text from someone saying, well they might get the 12:30 game in but the 3:00 seems unlikely.

Things change.

The issue with the wildly overlapping start times is NCAA women's lax rules. These windows have been a peeve of mine for years. https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/championships/sports/lacrosse/d1/women/2021-22D1WLA_PreChampsManual.pdf See top of page 10. Since then, Penn State finished under .500 and became ineligible, but Georgetown got that spot by winning the Big East. Stan...

Of course, I’m not buying that Hopkins AQ probability of 54%, because that means, uh, Penn State 46%. Yeah, right.
Not sure what that is based upon. The game means much more to Hopkins as far as tournament hopes go, but still those probabilities seem a bit out there.

I would say no. If Brown/Princeton is the biggest upset, then it has been a pretty predictable season.

Just bear in mind that it's not just RPI. Quality wins are pretty big as well.

Yes, I'm well aware of that. It has been a good indicator in the past and I'm not claiming any more than that.

Same old D1 powers represented. I get that the best players are there, but there are some great players outside the usual suspects. Jillian Petito at Mount St. Mary's has some eye-popping numbers in goal for a team that is having its best season ever. Of the four goalies listed, only Taylor Moreno i...

Yes, there are other criteria, but RPI usually correlates well with what teams get in.
