The NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Committee this spring approved a new championship format that eliminates much of the midweek action in the tournament in favor of weekend competition at pods with multiple teams.  The New Format is being discussed within the FanLax Forum.

The new format is:

First Round: 4 sites (2 teams per site) with competition on Wednesday.

Second/Third Round: 8 sites (4 teams per site) with competition on Saturday and the winners advancing to games on Sunday at the same site.

Quarterfinals/Semifinals: 2 sites (4 teams per site) with competition on Saturday and the winners advancing to games on Sunday at the same site.

Championship: 1 site (2 teams per site) with competition on Sunday.

The change results in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday at the high-seeded teams, then a full week before competition for the teams that advance.
